Planet overview: The CropWalker PLANET module is a computerised version of Defra's industry standard 'Fertiliser Recommendations (RB209)' book. It integrates directly with CropWalker to eliminate the need to re-enter cropping data. It provides farmers and advisers a way of obtaining RB209 recommendations for arable, horticultural or grassland crops in each field, each year, taking account of the crop nutrient requirement as well as the nutrients supplied from organic manures, soil and fertilisers.
It allows the user to develop a nutrient and manure application plan for fields covering the use of 'Nitrogen (N)', 'Phosphate (P2O5)', 'Potash (K2O)', 'Magnesium (as MgO)', 'Sulphur (as SO3)', 'Sodium (as Na2O)' and 'Lime'.
PLEASE NOTE- The Cropwalker PLANET Module is specific to England and Wales NVZ Schemes.
What is the CropWalker PLANET Module?
PLANET, by virtue of its objectives, requires a large amount of data to generate a 'Crop Nutrient Plan'. Much of this data, such as 'Soil Type', 'Soil Analysis', 'Previous', 'Current Cropping', 'Fertiliser', 'Manures' applied is stored within Cropwalker. Therefore there is real value in integrating this Cropwalker data into PLANET to quickly and easily generate a 'Crop Nutrient Requirement'. The Cropwalker PLANET Module does just this.
Importantly, because the Cropwalker PLANET Module is not relevant for all Cropwalker users, it has been developed as a separate application rather than integrated into Cropwalker.
How does it work?
The Cropwalker PLANET Module enables a user to import data from Cropwalker. The Module then takes the user through a wizard type process to enable additional required information to be entered. Once complete the Module automatically generates three reports-
1. 'PLANET Results (Summary)' report detailing 'Nutrient Requirement' (kg/ha) per field/crop.
2. 'PLANET Results Detail' report which includes advice and warnings on areas including application timings.
3. 'PLANET Nutrient Management' report.
Do the PANET nutrient requirements export back to CropWalker?
Yes, the Nutrient Requirements for each crop are sent back to reside in Cropwalker. Fertiliser Plans can then be created to meet that requirement. In the Fertiliser Plan screen, the user can view the PLANET nutrient requirement whilst creating a plan.
Does CropWalker warn if, whilst entering a plan, I exceed the PLANET recommendation?
Yes, a warning will appear if you create a Fertiliser Plan that exceeds the PLANET (RB209) recommendation if you have an auditing version of Cropwalker with ProCheck. (Versions include Cropwalker [Agronomist version] and CropwalkerFM Plus. Please check with our Support Team if you are unsure).
Can I set-up my own crop nutrient requirements to audit against?
Yes, Cropwalker now facilitates the entry of a user-defined 'Nutrient Requirement' if, for example, PLANET has not been used or if the crop is not covered by PLANET.
