Ben & Jerry’s to use Quickfire to support Caring Dairy Initiative
|
Ben & Jerry’s and Cono Cheesemakers are the latest addition to the Muddy Boots
Quickfire client base. They have chosen Quickfire as a platform for the implementation
and management of their Caring Dairy Initiative. The initiative is a means of monitoring
dairy farm production methods based on eleven key indicators. The ultimate goal
is to establish “sustainable dairy standards that better balance the needs of man,
cow, milk and the earth.”
Ben & Jerry’s closely monitor their Social and Environmental performance, which
comes hand in hand with their dedication to sustainable dairy farming. Their recent
partnership with Cono Cheesemakers, a dairy co-operative producing premium cheese
under the "Beemster" brand, has extended the Caring Dairy programme to a further
550 farmers (visit the Ben & Jerry’s website for more detail www.benjerry.com).
Using Muddy Boots Quickfire the data collected through the Caring Dairy Initiative
will provide valuable supply chain information on which to develop and implement
improvement plans. Anniek Mauser, European Social Mission Manager at Ben & Jerry’s
said:
“Over half of a tub of Ben & Jerry's is made up of dairy cream and milk and
we care a lot about where this comes from. We will soon have a powerful resource covering data collection requirements across our entire dairy supply chain, enabling
in depth performance analysis. Our endeavour is to milk happy cows and not the planet
- this we hope will become a reality through our collaboration with Muddy Boots.” |
